Funny, two weeks ago I brought you a signed photo of the Gimme A Break! cast starring Nell Carter. Did you know that Tracey Gold was almost cast as the youngest daughter? The role obviously went to Lara Jill Miller.
I loved the Gold sisters. Tracey's younger sister, Missy Gold, appeared on the TV series Benson from 1979-1986. Tracey Claire Fisher was born May 16, 1969 in New York City. Tracey Gold and her and her younger sisters Missy and Brandy went by the name Gold. Their mom Bonnie married a hot shot Hollywood talent agent named Harry Goldstein who adopted the girls when they were small. They changed their name and shortened it to Gold when they got into the biz. Gold is a much better stage name and makes for some fun headlines.
Sadly Tracey struggled as a teen with anorexia. Her beloved older friend and Growing Pains costar, Joanna Kerns introduced her to an actor she worked on a miniseries with named Roby Marshall. The two married in 1994 and have four sons together, Sage, Bailey, Aiden and Dylan. Tracey made headlines back in 2004 when her SUV tipped over in a highly publicized DWI accident--she was held on $50K bail. Sadly her hubby and children were in the car. In researching for this blog post, I've learned that Tracey Gold wrote a bio called Room to Grow, I'll be checking that out soon if it's still in print. I really did like her.

All these years and I never knew Tracey and Missy were sisters.
Have you seen Dance Til Dawn? It was a made-for-TV movie, Tracey was in around the time of Growing Pains. It one of my favorites!
I remember those headlines, when Tracey was battling with her eating disorder, doesn't seem like that long ago.
Growing pains was an awsome show...Kirk and Leo togeather.
I loved Tracey Gold!
It is so cool that you have been able to hang on to these items.
I had no idea that those two girls were sisters...
I saw her on The View hawking that book. She seems nice. Unfortunately I think that DWI cost her a lifetime of lifetime movies.
I loved that show as a kid, too! Her openness about her struggles with anorexia are is really inspiring. I really liked her a lot more when I started hearing her share her stories about that. Her triumph over the disease is inspiring as well.
My favorite episode was the one in which she meets up with a carnival worker and has a very romantic night with him. I really liked her in that.
Happy weekend, Ally.

I liked when Matthew Perry was on there as "Sandy." It was awesome. And I love the theme song... "As long as we got eachother...we can take anything that comes our way. Rain or shine, all the time, we got eachother...sharing the laughter and loooooooooooove." Whatever. Don't judge.
I love your vlogs, Ally. You have such cool memorabilia.
I saw Tracey on Oprah talking about her DWI. I felt bad for her. Oprah gave her a little bit of a hard time about it even though Tracey totally owned up to everything and really understood the gravity of those glasses of wine she had. When she talked about seeing her baby's overturned car seat on the side of that hill, it just about broke my heart, as I listened to her recount it.
Tracy was on tv just last week on one of those ghost shows. She told how she kept seeing a little boy spirit in her house, got pregnant then never saw the spirit again. She thought the spirit was her son telling her he wanted to come live with them...
I love this feature you do! I also love Kirk Cameron and I think I wrote to Tracey Gold too! :)
I had heard that she was anorexic, too. It's kind of sad, really.
I always preferred Missy. But then I prefer Benson as a show. Which just reminds me that I'm still upset Sony hasn't released a second season onto DVD.
My mother hated 'Family Ties' because she knew there was something 'off' about the kids, specifically Kirk Cameron and Traci. When he went religious crazy and she had all her troubles we thought Mom was a psychic. Then she predicted that Leonardo would be huge one day after seeing one episode of that show with him in it. Then we thought she was just crazy. Go figure - she was 3 for 3.
My brother and I liked Growing Pains. He had a crush on Tracey. We liked Benson too and so did our mother.
I remember these girls - but I couldn't for the life of me remember which one was which!
