BONKERS - BONKS YOU OUT!
The commercials may have been a bit annoying, but boy did I love Bonkers soft fruit flavored chewy candy. The print ads and commercials usually featured a southern housewife sporting an apron and wire rim glasses. "Some folks thinks Bonkers is gum, they know it's candy now!"
Bonkers by Nabisco are longer available -- sure we still have Starburst, but Bonkers were better. Bonkers candy even came in chocolate flavor. Remember?

I LOVED Bonkers and still talk about them all the time. I went to every retro candy website I could find looking for them until I found out they are no longer made. :(
Oh my gosh! I can't remember whether I ever bought any Bonkers candy, but I sure remember that commercial like it was yesterday! I loved that falling fruit and the people laughing. I wish we still had Bonkers today because I'd definitely buy them - especially the chocolate ones!
I don't remember that commercial, but I do remember the package. Funny how YOU manage to dredge up things from my brain vault, that I didn't remember were even in there!

i love when you post things like that this NO ONE i know seems to remember so i feel less crazy. i can vividly remember the grape and watermelon flavours!
Sometimes I can still taste orange Bonkers. There was a time (pre-youtube popularity) when no one else remembered it but me (or it seemed). Thank you for sharing this and bringing me to my people!
