Reading Rainbow with LeVar Burton

Reading Rainbow with LeVar Burton

"Butterfly in the sky! I can go twice as high!" ... "Take a look! It's in a book! A reading rainbow!" We loved the song. We loved the graphics. We loved to read thanks to Reading Rainbow. Reading Rainbow, hosted by the lovable LeVar Burton, is an award-winning (26 Emmy Awards!) 30-minute PBS TV program. LeVar recently told Mashable that a Reading Rainbow app and more is coming soon for today's readers.

Five Fun Facts Behind Reading Rainbow
  1. Reading Rainbow was introduced back in 1983 and continued to enlighten and educate children through 2006.
  2. Each episode focused on a different imaginative book and was narrated by a noted celebrity.
  3. Famous for its easy-to-remember theme song, Chaka Khan sang the intro in later episodes.
  4. Reading Rainbow has won more than 200 awards.
  5. On March 19, 2010, LeVar Burton tweeted that a Reading Rainbow 2.0 is in the works.

  1. I always liked LeVar Burton's voice, very very soothing to me. I also enjoyed yelling "THATS THE BLIND GUY FROM STAR TREK! THATS THE BLIND GUY FROM STAR TREK!!" when I was little haha

  2. Yes, I loved Reading Rainbow! Although when I was very little I was confused as to why the blind guy from Star Trek could suddenly see and read to children. Ah youth, so adorable, so stupid.

  4. This was one of my favorite shows as a kid. I can still see myself sitting out on the sun porch of our rented summer house, playing with my toys on the coffee table while watching "Reading Rainbow." Ah, memories. :)

  7. I LOOOOOVED this show as a kid. I always thought it was so strange that he was in Star Trek: The Next Generation. I was all "Are you going to teach me something??"

  8. my favorite episodes and clips were when he visited Butterfly Mountain, seeing dolphins, how fireworks were made, when he attempted to make a giant pizza.
There was the dominos clip as you saw a guy setting up a bunch of dominos that activated machines that set off more dominos.
But I really remember when he talked about the many different kinds of laughs.
